Bishop Kenneth R. Carter, Sr., a native of Opelika, Alabama and pastor of the Christ Temple Holiness Church. He was born May 13, 1959 in Opelika, Alabama. His parents are Thelma Holcey and the late Abe Carter. Bishop Carter and his lovely wife Veronica are the parents of two sons and one daughter; Derrick (Donna), Kenneth Jr.(Stephine) and Lekeia (Tyrone) and three wonderful grandchildren; Derrick, Jr., Kensley and Caria Skekinah.
He was elected over the Alabama churches of the Higher Grounds Always Abounding Assembly Inc., where Doctor Sherman Watkins of Columbus, Ohio is the Senior Bishop and Bishop T.D. Jakes of Dallas, TX is the 1st Vice Bishop. He is also member of the Ministerial Alliance in Opelika, Alabama.
Bishop Carter attended Auburn University and has received a Bachelor of Pastoral Ministry from New Hope Bible College. He also has a degree from Southern Union Community College. In 1981 he was called into the Ministry. In 1989 he became the Assistant Pastor under the leadership of Bishop James W. Johnson. In 1994 he was called to Pastor the Apostolic Fellowship Holiness Church, a small storefront church in Opelika, Alabama. In 1997 a new church was built, and in 2007 the church name was changed to Christ Temple Holiness Church.
Bishop Carter has made great strides in Opelika to help turn around the lives of the homeless, drug addicts, single mothers, married couples and others who are in need. Christ Temple Holiness Church has created programs such as a prison outreach, food bank, children church and youth church.
He is an anointed and powerful man of God. His intellectual and scriptural approach stimulates the intellect of people on all levels of life. He penetrates the hardest of hearts, captivating the attention of the restless and convincing the confused that God is able to save anybody. The primary focus of this ministry is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through the Word of God.
